Nomination & Guidance Information for Notable Achievement Awards

There are three Notable Achievement Awards that an individual or organization can be nominated for:

  1. Notable Achievement in the Prevention, Treatment & Control of Hypertension at the Population Level:
    The World Hypertension League wishes to recognize notable achievement by individuals, organizations and intervention in efforts to prevent, treat and control hypertension at a population level as part of the effort to reduce the burden of hypertension globally.

  2. Notable Achievement in Dietary Salt Reduction at a Population Level:
    The World Hypertension League wishes to recognize the notable achievement of individuals, organizations or interventions to reduce dietary salt at a population level.

  3. Rising Star Notable Achievement Award in Promotion of Public Health For Cardiovascular Disease Risk and Hypertension Control

 

To Nominate an Individual or an Organization for one of these awards:

A letter from two nominators detailing the contribution made by the individual to high blood pressure prevention or control is required. Those receiving this award will have a made a notable contribution on prevention, treatment and control of hypertension at a population level. Accompanying documents substantiating the nomination can be included where appropriate such as: curriculum vitae, organizational charter, publication, project funding proposals, and newspaper articles or media reports.

PLEASE BE SURE TO NOTE IN YOUR LETTER WHICH NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD YOU ARE NOMINATING THE INDIVIDUAL FOR!

Interventions at an institutional level would ordinarily not be eligible unless they were likely to impact a broader population or a very large number of people.

No current member of the board or executive or awards committee of the WHL, or interventions or organizations they lead are eligible.

Individuals involved in producing, promoting or marketing tobacco or salt for consumption (outside of the recommended dietary salt intake promoted by the World Health Organization or the potential nominees’ regional government) are not eligible for award.

Individuals are eligible to receive the award more than once provided there are separate achievements of note. There may be multiple recipients in any year. Awardees will be notified by e-mail of the recognition by May 17th in honor of World Hypertension Day.
